Behind every UniKiwi cloisters, there is more than just a simple wooden sign. There is a story of encounters, passion, transmission… and of people who love well done work.
My name is Damien, founder of’Usimat and manufacturer of the UniKiwi cloisters.
My relationship with UniKiwi didn’t start the day I took over the brand. It started several years earlier.
At that time, I worked in a small local company specializing in digital cutting. When Jean-Pascal and Marie created UniKiwi in 2020, They already had a strong conviction: producing their cellars in France, By drawing on the expertise of local companies. It was in this way that they came to meet us to bring their first designs to life.
Very quickly, a relationship of trust was established. Through the exchanges, trials and fabrications, I had the chance to accompany them in the development of their products. I saw this brand take shape, evolve its models and grow its identity.
A few years later, life presented me with a wonderful opportunity.
By creating Usimat, I had the privilege of resuming the manufacture of the UniKiwi cloisters… but also of taking over the baby I had seen being born a few years earlier.
This adventure took on an even more special dimension since I took on a workshop that was steeped in history.
This workshop has been in existence since 1969.
When my father started working there, he was 18 years old. More than half a century later, it is my turn to practice my profession there. There is something deeply symbolic in this transmission. Returning to this place, creating my own business there, and now manufacturing the UniKiwi cloisters here is a real pride. The workshop has kept its identity and old curtains, which makes this story even more beautiful.
Today, all UniKiwi cloisters are manufactured in this workshop, in Lansargues, in the Hérault, in the heart of southern France.
At the border between craftsmanship and technology, we combine the precision of digital control with traditional know-how. The machines allow us to achieve impeccable machining quality, but nothing replaces the hand of the craftsman. The finishes are made by hand, each piece is carefully checked and each order goes through my hands, from the first machining to the final packaging.
Here, there is no production on a chain basis.
Each cloister is manufactured exclusively on order, In terms of dimensions, the essence of wood and the finishes chosen by its future owner. Each piece is unique.
We carefully select high-quality woods to guarantee both robustness, durability and aesthetics. Our ambition is to create space dividers that are not just functional but that become a true decorative element capable of truly evoking emotion. the «wow» effect» At first glance.
At UniKiwi, we are convinced that an interior deserves a signature that suits it. That’s why we put all our passion, experience, and professionalism into every project.
